Jeanie Bags

Jeanie Bags are handmade at Galalaw Farm just outside Kelso, in the Scottish Borders, by farmer’s wife and trained saddler Lucy Robertson.

Lucy made her first bag for her seven-year-old daughter, Jeanie, after getting fed up of her plastic carrier bags. Her friends requested more bags, a nearby shop began stocking them, and Jeanie Bags was born.

Lucy trained as a saddler at the prestigious Cordwainer’s College, and worked for the Queen’s harness maker in Oxfordshire. She now combines her meticulous craft skills with her love of colour and textiles to create beautiful tweed and tartan handbags with a contemporary twist.

You can buy Jeanie Bags from The Crafters in Melrose, or direct from Jeanie Bags’ online shop.
